Russell I. Shapiro

Russell Shapiro is a partner at LP and chairs the firm’s Corporate Practice Group. He concentrates his practice in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and management buy-outs in a diverse range of industries, ranging from professional services to scrap metal. He also serves as outside counsel to several businesses, and as a Certified Public Accountant, brings significant tax and financial understanding to corporate transactions.

Clients consistently recognize Russell’s outstanding business judgment, and he serves on several boards of directors and advisory panels. He has also served as an expert witness on merger and takeover transactions.

Russell has significant experience in the scrap metal industry, serving as counsel in the purchase and sale of scrap metal companies and scrap facilities, as well as in the negotiation of mill services agreements. As an outgrowth of his corporate, CPA and tax backgrounds, he also acts as counsel to professional service organizations, including accounting firms, law firms, advertising agencies, consulting firms and investment bankers and advises them concerning their partnership agreements, and in mergers and acquisitions.

Russell often speaks and writes on various corporate issues, and his recent publications include: Private Company Mergers for the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education’s Business Law Series and an article on accounting firm partnerships in the CPA Practice Management Forum.
