Rob serves as Levenfeld Pearlstein’s Managing Partner, following his succession to the role in January of 2013.  Rob is also a partner in the firm’s Trusts & Estates Group where his nearly 25 years of extensive experience inform his work on estate, gift and income tax planning and broad-based wealth and business succession planning for high net worth individuals, owners of closely held businesses and their families. As an extension of that work, Rob also focuses on asset protection planning and the creation of sophisticated structures to legitimately protect clients’ wealth from the claims of potential future creditors.  Additionally, Rob is actively involved in both contested and routine administration of trusts, guardianship and decedents’ estates.

Rob welcomes the intellectual challenges of his work as an opportunity to creatively problem solve on behalf of his clients on issues of ultimate importance to them.  Rob’s responsibility is to make the complex understandable – he believes that to identify and give shape to his clients’ goals necessitates listening, without which he would not have the tools necessary to create the most informed and responsive work product.  Rob recognizes that how he communicates information to his clients is just as important as how he receives it.  He understands how complex estate and tax law can be and recognizes that a large part of his job is to present information in a manageable form to keep clients and their families informed and involved.  Rob appreciates the trust given to him by clients and in turn works to bring insight and integrity to their matters, an approach that has helped turn once new client relationships into lasting, personal ones.

Rob was elected as a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) in 2002.  His election to ACTEC was in recognition of his professional reputation, expertise in the field of trusts and estates and his continuing contributions to these fields through speaking, writing and bar activities.  He is a frequent speaker on estate and tax planning matters and has been a member of the faculty of the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education’s (IICLE) annual Estate Planning Short Course for over 15 years.  Rob also was a Managing Editor of the IICLE Asset Protection Planning handbook.  Recently, Rob was tapped to speak at the annual Notre Dame Tax and Estate Planning Institute on the topic of maintaining a successful estate planning practice in an era of high estate tax exemptions.

In addition to his practice, Rob is also active in a number of charitable and civic matters. He is the Immediate Past President of Moriah Congregation in Deerfield, Illinois. He is also the outgoing chair of the Professional Advisory Committee of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago and serves as an advisor to several charitable organizations in Chicago. Rob is also a proud graduate of the renowned Wexner Heritage Foundation program for Jewish leaders.
