A partner in LP’s Employment & Executive Compensation Group, Ben is a trusted advisor to growing businesses and their leaders on a wide range of employment issues. Drawing on years of experience as an employment litigator in all manner of disputes, Ben focuses on assisting employers with proactive compliance, risk assessment and mitigation, and counseling on best practices when navigating tricky employment situations. He has extensive experience litigating and advising clients on wage and hour matters, employee classifications and practices, restrictive covenants, reasonable accommodations and leaves of absence, executive employment agreements and compensation, workplace safety, drug testing policies and procedures, and labor matters. He frequently works on the employment aspects of transactional matters, including employment-related diligence and executive discussions relating to business transactions.
In addition to representing employers across a wide range of industries, Ben has deep knowledge and experience with the nuances of regulated industries, including cannabis and alcoholic beverages. By combining his vast knowledge of employment law with his hands-on industry knowledge, he helps clients identify and navigate interrelated legal issues, including corporate and transactional, intellectual property, regulatory, environmental, labor and employment, and workplace safety.
Ben prides himself on his responsiveness, clear communication skills, and dedication to understand each client’s specific circumstances and preferences. Ben’s goal is to communicate with clients in a way that efficiently supports day-to-day decision-making through a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach, while also protecting business interests.
Ben earned his J.D., cum laude, from DePaul University College of Law and his B.S., cum laude, from the University of Illinois. Before joining LP, Ben was a partner at Michael Best & Friedrich LLP. In his free time, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and daughter, as well as traveling, biking, and skiing.
