It was nice to see you at the 2026 NBA CLS Corporate Counsel Conference.

Kevin Slaughter and LP’s transactional lawyers focus on representing clients in M&A transactions, supplier agreements, and commercial transactions across multiple industries and jurisdictions. We represent strategic buyers and sellers, private equity funds and their portfolio companies, hedge funds, family offices, high-net-worth individuals, independent sponsors, and sophisticated private investors.

Our Employment & Executive Compensation group works closely with our transactional teams to advise on workforce, culture, and leadership matters critical to successful deals, and to guide clients through the evolving landscape of AI‑related employment practices, including the use of automated decision‑making tools in hiring, performance evaluation, workforce management, and compliance.

Our Litigation team brings extensive experience in complex disputes and commercial litigation, including real estate, debtor‑creditor, finance and bankruptcy matters, labor and employment disputes, insurance coverage disputes, trusts and estates litigation, and professional liability matters.

We bring broad experience handling a wide spectrum of transactions and help our clients throughout the planning, structuring, and execution phases of the transaction process and beyond.

To add value and enhance the client experience, we:

    • Strive to understand clients’ businesses and risk thresholds so we can actively anticipate and satisfy their legal needs.

    • Provide day-to-day general counsel to help clients understand and solve complex legal, tax, and business issues at every stage of representation.

    • Build a business relationship with clients as their trusted strategic advisors, not just as their lawyers.

    • Use our extensive experience advising business organizations and their owners to serve as an available resource for clients’ teams on general legal matters.

    • Give practical, market-based business advice and focus on clients’ business objectives.

    • Solve problems rather than simply identifying them.

    • Know the market for relevant deal terms.

    • Develop and refine proprietary legal form documents used for similar and repeated legal matters.

    • Make introductions to other service providers, potential employees, investors, or targets to improve your business.

    • Use proprietary project management tools to increase efficiencies and opportunities for greater cost savings and better execution.

As lawyers, we are guided by a shared dedication to justice, we:

    • Model our firm’s culture and organizational structures on the kind of fairness and inclusion we want to see in the world.

    • Ask difficult questions, listen with intention and vulnerability, and implement, evaluate, and revise policies that uplift true equity and equality.

    • Intentionally create diverse teams. For instance, on behalf of a Fortune 500 company, Kevin Slaughter assembled deal teams for three buy-side acquisitions, with 83% of time billed by diverse lawyers and paralegals.

    • Endorse attorneys’ efforts to promote diversity in client teams, including via compensation criteria.

    • Work with clients to meet their diversity standards.

    • Achieved Mansfield Certification, a national initiative that seeks to broaden the talent pool to ensure pathways to leadership – including lateral hiring, client teams, promotions, and more – are open and transparent to all qualified lawyers, including those historically underrepresented in the legal profession.
