LP Promotes Steve Kriz to Partner in Trust & Estates Practice Group

​LP is proud to announce that Steven L. Kriz has been promoted to partner, effective January 1, 2022.

Steve is a member of the firm’s Trusts & Estates Group, counseling high-net-worth individuals and families on structuring and implementing their unique estate planning goals. He concentrates on estate and gift taxation, wealth preservation, and succession for closely held businesses, as well as continuing to build out the group’s charitable foundations practice. He has also played a key role in the firm’s DEI initiatives.

Steve prides his practice on effective communication to ensure that he can counsel his clients appropriately to be a more effective counselor.

Steve is actively involved in the Chicago Estate Planning Council as Chair of the Workshops and Fundamentals Committee. He is actively involved in the estate planning community and has written and spoken for the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education (IICLE), Chicago Estate Planning Council (CEPC), BNA Tax Management, Trusts and Estates Magazine, Leimberg Webinar Services, Chicago Bar Association, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and several prominent banking institutions. He earned his LL.M in Taxation from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, his J.D. from UIC John Marshall Law School, and his B.A. from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He is admitted to practice in both Michigan and Illinois.

In his free time, Steve enjoys spending time with his family, running, playing piano, and traveling both domestically and abroad.
