Employment & Executive Compensation
Deja is an associate in LP’s Employment & Executive Compensation Practice Group. She advises employers on a wide range of employment matters, enabling them to minimize risk and focus on running their businesses. She drafts employment contracts, separation agreements, non-disclosure agreements, non-compete agreements, confidentiality agreements, and employee handbooks to ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations, while enabling employers to achieve their business objectives. She also has experience advising higher education institutions on Title IX compliance, name, image, and likeness regulations, and endorsement contracts.
In addition to providing proactive employment counsel, Deja defends clients in employment litigation involving employment discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims, as well as contract disputes. She also defends clients facing allegations of violations of health and safety laws and wage and hour laws at the trial and appellate level in state and federal court.
Deja earned her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, where she was the Moot Court Executive Director of External Competitions, president of the Black Law Students Association, and Student Chair Member of the Diversity Committee. She earned her B.S. from Pennsylvania State University, where she competed on the varsity track and field team and received the All-Academic Big Ten Athlete Award. Before joining LP, she was an associate at Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, PLC. In her free time, she enjoys reading, picking flowers and making floral arrangement, power lifting, and journaling.
