A partner in LP’s Corporate Practice Group, Alice advises clients on sophisticated tax matters related to mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, real estate transactions, financing transactions, investments, and other corporate transactions. Her clients include real estate investment companies, joint ventures, national and multinational corporations, financial institutions, private equity funds, start-ups, and family businesses. She provides business-focused strategic advice and practical solutions that enable clients to structure transactions in a tax-efficient manner that advances their objectives.
Before pursuing a legal career, Alice taught high school and AP English with Teach for America. She relies on the skills she honed in these education roles to provide tailored legal advice and help her clients understand the nuances of complex tax laws, enabling them to analyze risk and assess options effectively.
In addition to an active legal career, Alice is a volunteer at her church, with Safe Families for Children, and with local public schools. She has represented several pro bono clients, including asylum seekers in immigration cases, a church in its benevolence fund administration, a community center in real estate purchase matters, low-income clients in drafting advanced directives, and a parent-teacher organization in tax-status matters.
Alice earned her J.D., cum laude, and LLM in Taxation from Northwestern University, her M.S.Ed. from the University of Pennsylvania, and her B.A., with distinction, from Yale University. Before joining LP, she was a partner in the Chicago office of a leading business law firm. After law school, she was a Public Interest Law Initiative Fellow with the Young Center for Immigration and Children’s Rights. In her free time, she enjoys exploring Chicago with her family and supporting wellness initiatives at her daughter’s school.
