Michael Burney is an associate in the firm’s Real Estate Group, where he focuses his practice on transactional real estate, real estate financing and municipal representation. Michael helps clients navigate a broad range of acquisitions and dispositions and advises both landlords and tenants in leasing matters.
Michael represents buyers and sellers of commercial, industrial, multi-family and residential properties, vacant land and stalled multi-phase development projects, assisting them during the due diligence process and negotiating a variety of agreements necessary to the acquisition or disposition of property.
He regularly prepares leases and subleases, and drafts and negotiates extensions and early terminations, on behalf of commercial landlords and tenants. He also represents financial institutions in making and securing loans secured by real estate and other collateral.
Michael earned a J.D. from Chicago Kent College of Law and a B.S. in Biochemistry and Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
