As advisor to the Board of 2626 Lakeview on their recent smoking ban, LP was mentioned in the Crain’s article, “Don’t smoke ‘em if you’ve got’em: Lincoln Park condo tower bans smoking.”

From the article:

Residential smoking bans have picked up across the country in recent years, from New York condo towers to entire cities in California. Some Chicago apartment towers have smoking bans, but the trend has been slow to pick up with local condo boards, perhaps because of recession-era fears that smoking bans would shut out future buyers.

“When the real estate market went down it was a little more difficult for boards or associations to implement any kind of restrictions,” said Patti O'Connor, a partner at Levenfeld Pearlstein. “A lot of people viewed it as an impediment or potential impediment, and with smoking you heard the same thing.”
