The October 4, 2011 Chicago Lawyer article, “Lawyers jump to different firms for different opportunities,” addressed the reasoning behind a series of recent lateral moves, and how the current landscape of the legal arena has actually fostered the right environment for increasing levels of attorneys to act on new opportunities. LP attorney Paul Simons, a new addition to LP, was quoted in the article, and several of the firm’s new laterals (including Jeffery Hoffenberg) were showcased in the article’s feature photograph.
The appeal of transitioning to a new firm can take a variety of forms, some more tangible than others. As Paul Simons explained, “There are people who stay in the same firm forever and do perfectly well, but I do see benefits to change. It forces you to work with different people and personalities.”
