Levenfeld Pearlstein’s Mark Pearlstein to Receive Institute of Real Estate Management’s 2008 Leadership Award

CHICAGO – Levenfeld Pearlstein LLC is pleased to announce that Mark D. Pearlstein, a partner in the firm’s Real Estate & Finance Practice Group and Community Associations Service Group, has been selected to receive the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) Chicago Chapter’s 2008 Leadership Award. IREM’s Leadership Award is presented each year to recognize an individual or organization that has taken a leadership role in enhancing the reputation of the real estate industry. Mr. Pearlstein will be honored at the organization’s 4th Annual PREMIER Awards dinner on February 1.

“Mark is one of Chicago’s most talented and recognizable real estate attorneys, especially in the area of community associations law,” said Bryan I. Schwartz, chairman of Levenfeld Pearlstein. “I can think of nobody more deserving of IREM’s Leadership Award than Mark, and we as a firm offer him our sincere congratulations on this tremendous honor.”

Mr. Pearlstein focuses his practice on the representation of condominium associations, homeowners associations, townhome associations and cooperatives. He has also worked extensively on commercial condominiums, condominiums conversions, hotel condominiums, and mixed-used new construction projects.

Mr. Pearlstein is the current chairman of the Illinois Legislative Action Committee of the Community Associations Institute (CAI), and is a charter member of the CAI College of Community Association Lawyers, a former chairman of the Chicago Bar Association Condominium Subcommittee, and the Advisory Group for the Uptown Habitat for Humanity.

Since 1988, Mr. Pearlstein has written a weekly column on condominium and homeowner association law for the Chicago Tribune, entitled “Condominiums”. He is also the author of the current chapter on “Condominium Management” for the Condominium Law textbook published by the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education; and the author of a recent article on “Legal Defenses and Other Practice Issues in Architectural Covenant Enforcement” for the Journal of Community Association law. In addition, Mr. Pearlstein has lectured extensively at state and national seminars on homeowner association law and has been closely involved in drafting provisions of the Illinois Condominium Property Act pertaining to insurance, lender assessment obligations and reserve funding.
