CHICAGO – Three Levenfeld Pearlstein LLC attorneys recently teamed up with the Wills for Heroes Foundation and the Young Lawyers Section of the Chicago Bar Association to assist Chicago Police Department members and their families in creating critical estate planning documents.

Firm attorneys Stuart J. Kohn, Sheri E. Warsh and Howard S. Dakoff volunteered their time on February 26 at Chicago Police Department Headquarters to help 64 families prepare their wills and powers of attorney for health care and property. Kohn and Warsh are partners in Levenfeld Pearlstein’s Asset Planning & Preservation Group, while Dakoff is a partner in the firm’s Community Associations Service Group and leads the firm’s Corporate Social Responsibility program.

"We are always looking to make a difference in the community and this program is particularly impactful because it directly helps those who put their lives on the line to protect us every day," Kohn said. "It’s personally rewarding to be able to give back to these brave and committed public servants by providing them with the resources to ensure that their wishes and the wishes of their families are protected."

Currently active in 24 states, the Wills for Heroes Foundation was started shortly after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks to provide free estate-planning documents for firefighters, police officers, paramedics, corrections and probation officers and other qualified public safety professionals, as well as their spouses or partners. The program has served 380 clients in Chicago since July 2010.

Levenfeld Pearlstein believes that doing right and doing well are inseparable, and, that it is the firm’s obligation to help others. Its commitment to corporate social responsibility and sustainability is serious and reflects the firm’s values and culture. The firm’s goal is to make a difference for its clients, in the community and on behalf of the individuals and community organizations that are leading the way.
