Levenfeld Pearlstein Announces Grant to Greater Chicago Food Depository’s Chicago’s Community Kitchens as Part of Ongoing Commitment to Community Organizations

January 18, 2011

CHICAGO –Levenfeld Pearlstein LLC is pleased to announce that it has awarded a grant of $25,000 to the Greater Chicago Food Depository’s Chicago’s Community Kitchens program. This is the second year in which the firm has supported Chicago’s Community Kitchens through its Corporate Contributions Program, which supports worthy Chicago community organizations. Launched in 2007, the Corporate Contributions Program is part of a broader corporate and social responsibility initiative that has been part of Levenfeld Pearlstein’s overall mission since its founding in 1999.

“It is extremely important to all of us at the firm that regardless of outside economic conditions, we are able to continue our support for organizations like the Chicago Food Depository and its Chicago’s Community Kitchens program,” said Bryan I. Schwartz, Chairman of Levenfeld Pearlstein. “We know that in a challenging economy, not-for-profit organizations that need community support more than ever, are typically the first to lose funding. The commitment to bettering the communities in which we work and live is tightly woven into the fabric of our firm, and to halt this program would go against many of the principles on which Levenfeld Pearlstein was founded.”

Since its inception in 1998, Chicago’s Community Kitchens has been providing foodservice job training to unemployed and underemployed adults in Cook County who have a passion for “life in the kitchen” and a will to achieve entry-level employment in the foodservice industry. Students create nearly 2,000 meals a day that are delivered to Food Depository Kids Cafes, providing nourishing meals to hungry children after school, older adults who need food assistance and older adult meal programs.

Levenfeld Pearlstein's Corporate Contributions Program, is a grant-making program based on the firm’s belief that its accomplishments are routed in accountability and that by supporting the innovation and leadership of nonprofit organizations, it extends its ability to make a difference in the community. Levenfeld Pearlstein realizes that leadership, passion, creativity and focus can make the difference between success and failure. It also knows that challenging convention requires commitment. The combination of endurance, efficiency, balance and resourcefulness is what often makes the difference. The firm supports organizations that incorporate best practices into their work and continuously seek to identify solutions that provide meaningful opportunities to make a difference. In particular, we look for organizations committed to their employees and stakeholders that demonstrate accountability and seek to challenge convention, drive for efficiency and innovate.

Levenfeld Pearlstein also believes that doing right and doing well are inseparable, and, that it is the firm’s obligation to help others. Its commitment to corporate social responsibility and sustainability is serious and reflects the firm’s values and culture. The firm’s goal is to make a difference for its clients, in the community and on behalf of the individuals and community organizations that are leading the way.
