CHICAGO – Levenfeld Pearlstein LLC is pleased to announce the addition of Kurt Stitcher as a partner in the firm’s Litigation Practice Group. Mr. Stitcher, 44, joins Levenfeld Pearlstein from Winston & Strawn LLP, where, as a litigation partner, he focused his practice on product liability and toxic/mass tort litigation, corporate internal investigations, white-collar criminal defense, and general commercial and class action litigation.
Mr. Stitcher graduated cum laude from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, then worked as an Intelligence Analyst for the Central Intelligence Agency. After earning his J.D. with distinction from Stanford Law School, he began his legal career at Kirkland & Ellis in Chicago, where he rose to become a litigation partner before leaving the firm to serve as a federal prosecutor at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Miami. Mr. Stitcher then worked as a litigation partner at Kirkpatrick & Lockhart in Pittsburgh, before returning to Chicago to join Dan Webb at Winston & Strawn.
“We are thrilled to welcome Kurt to the firm,” said Scott A. Meyers, chair of Levenfeld Pearlstein’s Litigation Practice Group. “His extraordinary background and extensive trial experience further underscores our firm’s commitment to excellence and greatly enhances our ability to provide outstanding client service in several areas, including product liability and white collar criminal defense.”
Mr. Stitcher has represented a number of
Fortune 100 companies in product liability and toxic/mass tort matters involving products such as automobiles, breast implants, pharmaceuticals, construction materials, and toxic substances. He represented an auto manufacturer in its first-ever lawsuit involving composite fiberglass leafsprings on its mini-vans and defended a mini-van rollover case that was ranked as one of the “Top Ten Defense Verdicts of 1999” by The National Law Journal. In the area of toxic/mass tort litigation, Mr. Stitcher has litigated matters involving radioactive isotopes and chlorinated solvents, including representation of a group of
Fortune 500 companies in a case involving claims that an atomic production and power facility had injured thousands of plaintiffs.
While working as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, Mr. Stitcher investigated, indicted, and/or prosecuted more than 100 defendants for a variety of federal felonies, including financial crimes. Since leaving the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Mr. Stitcher has represented a number of companies and individuals in white-collar criminal matters and corporate internal investigations, including the Bankruptcy Court Examiner’s investigation into the WorldCom bankruptcy, the Spitzer-driven Attorney General investigations into the insurance brokering industry, and various stock options backdating investigations and related matters.
Mr. Stitcher’s class action and general commercial litigation experience includes the representation of several
Fortune 500 companies in matters involving claims of antitrust violations, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of warranty, civil RICO, civil rights, defamation, fraud, patent infringement, and securities fraud.
