Emily Hoyt is an associate in the Tax Planning & Litigation and Corporate Groups. She helps middle market companies solve business problems, and does so with an unparalleled eagerness and optimism regardless of the size or complexity of the situation.
For clients facing state and local tax issues, Emily examines current statutes and regulations as well as other guidance to determine an appropriate course of action specific to the client’s needs. She weighs the client’s business considerations and underlying legal concerns to determine the steps involved in reaching a successful outcome. Her experience includes determining international and federal tax implications of proposed transactions, as well as representing clients before the Internal Revenue Service.
In addition, Emily regularly handles general corporate matters for clients, including business formation, mergers and acquisitions, contract negotiation and 1031 exchanges. She also assists with the design, implementation and administration of employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs) as an effective business succession strategy. In this area, she draws on her tax background and big picture perspective to keep clients on track to achieving short- and long-term goals.
