Wasim Bleibel is a member of Levenfeld Pearlstein’s Intellectual Property Practice Group and focuses his practice on patent and trademark prosecution. He has experience providing opinions and prosecuting patents for a variety of technologies, including those related to the chemical and mechanical arts. Wasim works with individual inventors and small, midsized and large corporations.

Wasim has an extensive scientific background. Prior to his legal career, Wasim was a senior research scientist at the University of Chicago, where he worked to identify genetic determinants contributing to a patient’s sensitivity to chemotherapeutic agents. His contributions resulted in his laboratory being the first to demonstrate that drug sensitivity to chemotherapy is a heritable genetic trait and that these responses vary between populations.

During law school, Wasim travelled to China to study international patent law. He also worked at a Beijing law firm as a summer associate prosecuting patents related to biotechnology. In addition, Wasim was the Executive Lead Articles Editor for The John Marshall Review of Intellectual Property Law, participated in the Giles Sutherland Rich Moot Court Competition, received a Certificate in intellectual property law, and mentored high school students at The Austin Polytechnical Academy.
