Martin is an associate in the Corporate Practice Group and the Taxation and Exchange Service Groups. He counsels clients on federal and state tax issues with particular emphasis on Internal Revenue Code section 1031 exchange services, including related real estate and estate planning issues. 

As a former senior vice president for J.P. Morgan Property Exchange Inc. and former vice president of Bank One Exchange Corporation, he brings extensive experience in educating and assisting clients in the technical requirements, business risks and planning opportunities of like-kind exchange transactions.  He drafts and negotiates exchange agreements and ancillary documents as well as assists both Taxpayers and Exchange Companies in deferred like-kind exchange matters including complex parking, tenancy-in-common, and other innovative strategies.

Martin is frequently asked to speak about like-kind exchange transactions and related topics at seminars and conferences throughout the United States. While in law school, he served as the Operations Editor of the Indiana Journal of Global Legal Studies.
