James is an associate in the Litigation Practice Group and the Securities & Commodities Litigation Service Group, as well as the Creditors’ Rights & Insolvency Service Group. He focuses on securities litigation, corporate and shareholder disputes, bankruptcy matters, and complex commercial litigation. He has experience representing corporations, directors and officers in securities litigation, investigations, securities fraud and compliance matters, as well as in corporate shareholder disputes involving breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, and other complex matters. He also has experience representing trustees, creditors, and creditors’ committees in bankruptcy involving such matters as priority and claims disputes, fraudulent transfers, contested plans of reorganization, and equitable subordination claims.

Prior to joining our firm, James was an associate in the Corporate Reorganization Group at Jenner & Block in Chicago. In addition to his legal experience, he worked in the financial industry for seven years as a manager of accounting and finance at an industrial group, as a financial analyst with a private equity group in Russia, and as a small business loan consultant for the European Bank for Reconstruction & Development's Small Business Loan Program for Russia.

While in law school, James served as Associate Editor for the Washington University Journal of Law and Policy. He often writes for legal publications on topics such as outsourcing, NASD arbitration, and the use of independent contractors in the broker-dealer industry.
