Jeff is a partner in the Real Estate & Finance Practice Group where he represents clients in many aspects of commercial real estate law, including distressed property issue sales, acquisitions, leasing and development. He understands the challenges facing commercial landlords in today’s climate and counsels his clients on workouts and evictions. He was involved with sales, leasing, and redevelopment of operating and closed Albertson’s properties across the U.S. and the sale of nearly three quarters of $1 billion of operating Mervyn’s retail properties throughout the country.
Jeff is regularly involved with on-going leasing and development of Mervyn’s stores. He has also been involved in the acquisition, leasing, and redevelopment of the post bankruptcy Service Merchandise portfolio of 230 properties located in 25 states. He is regularly involved with the leasing of One Mag Mile, a prominent mixed-use development on Michigan Avenue in Chicago, as well as multiple commercial office loft spaces in the upscale River North neighborhood of Chicago.
Jeff heads the firm’s Environmental Task Force, charged with conforming the firm’s green practices with its adoption of The American Bar Association’s sustainability policy for law firms. Jeff also heads the firm’s Green Development Initiative, a firm-wide team created to help clients understand and manage the opportunities associated with Sustainability, alternative energy, and clean technology.
