Gabe is an of counsel attorney in the ERISA Service Group and has over 23 years of experience in large and small law firms, consulting firms and a public company.  His practice has focused on a range of employee benefits and compensation law issues, including qualified and non-qualifed retirement plans, health plans, equity and non-equity compensation arrangements, ERISA fiduciary counseling, corporate transactions and ERISA litigation. His clients have included Fortune 500, large and middle-market companies; multi-employer pension, health and welfare funds; governmental agencies, individuals and third-party administrators.

Gabe is recognized as a “Leading Lawyer” by a state-wide survey of lawyers conducted by Law Bulletin Publishing Company to determine the top lawyers in the State of Illinois based on experience, reputation and legal skills, a distinction earned by fewer than 5% of all lawyers licensed in the state.  He received an “AV” rating in the Martindale-Hubbell directory, which identifies a lawyer with very high to preeminent legal ability, and demonstrates the highest professional and ethical standards.  He has been selected to be inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel by prominent employee benefits attorneys nationwide based on demanding criteria emphasizing both excellence in the quality of practice and serious contributions to the public’s understanding and appreciation of employee benefits law.  Gabe is also a frequent speaker and author on topics including ethical standards in employee benefits practice, ERISA litigation, bargaining health and welfare benefits, ERISA fiduciary issues, bankruptcy and employee benefit plans, employee benefits in mergers and acquisitions, plans of public and tax-exempt employers and other topics relating to his employee benefits and executive compensation practice.
