CHICAGO – Levenfeld Pearlstein LLC is pleased to announce the addition of veteran litigation partner Michael P. Padden from Howrey LLP. Padden is joined at the firm by litigation associate Jason B. Hirsh from Arnstein & Lehr LLP, and real estate associate Mark C. Vaughan, who comes to Levenfeld Pearlstein from Chicago law firm, Grady Pilgrim Christakis Bell LLP.
“We are fortunate to have come through the financial downturn of the last few years in a strong, financially stable condition that has positioned us for growth in key practice areas and made us an attractive option for lateral attorneys,” said Bryan I. Schwartz, Chairman of Levenfeld Pearlstein. “Bringing in a litigator of Mike’s high caliber, along with an excellent young attorney like Jason, adds valuable depth and breadth to our platform. Similarly, our Real Estate & Finance Practice is once again in growth mode and Mark’s addition ensures that we remain ahead of client demand.”
Padden, 54, has extensive experience in a broad range of business litigation matters, with special concentration in intellectual property, antitrust, and commercial litigation. He has successfully defended against and enforced a wide variety of patent infringement claims, including actions based on mechanical, pharmaceutical, and business method patents. He has also successfully prosecuted and defended claims of misappropriation of trade secrets. In the area of antitrust law, Padden has tried cases involving claims of monopolization, attempts to monopolize, price discrimination, exclusive dealing, and division of markets agreements. He has also successfully represented clients in commercial litigation based on breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, and other business tort claims.
Padden earned his B.A. from University of Notre Dame and his J.D. from Stanford Law School.
“The prospect of joining a growing firm with a well-established culture of collaboration that will provide the opportunity to offer a compelling value proposition for sophisticated intellectual property and commercial litigation made this an ideal move for me,” Padden said.
Hirsh, 31, has extensive experience litigating a broad range of federal and state claims from commencement to appeal. He has litigated business disputes involving antitrust, anticompetitive business practices, breach of fiduciary duty, shareholder oppression, fraud and breach of contract in the areas of consumer finance, employment and commercial real estate. Hirsh also maintains an active electronic discovery practice, counseling clients on issues related to corporate document retention and informational governance policies.
Hirsh earned his B.S. from Miami University and his J.D. from the Chicago-Kent College of Law.
Vaughan, 30, represents clients including retail, commercial, industrial and residential property owners and developers, and banking and financial service institutions in a broad range of commercial real estate transactions. He is experienced in acquisitions and dispositions, leasing, financing, land use and other municipal matters. Vaughan’s transactional work also includes workouts and restructurings, tax-increment financing and construction contracting.
Vaughan earned his B.A. from Wheaton College and his J.D. from Washington University School of Law.
